Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Ar Esa Mohamed, an Architect-Planner, founder and the Managing Director of Akitek Jururancang (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (AJM), a well established architectural and planning consultancy firm, which was responsible for several prestigious planning and architectural projects in Malaysia; Subang Jaya Township, Kuala Lumpur Master Plan, University Malaysia Pahang (UMP), the Putrajaya Administrative Capital City Master Plan and the Kuala Lumpur TRX Master plan. He was also involved in several major works in China, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Architectural works included; the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, the Langkawi International Airport, Langkawi Bay Resort, Mid-Valley City, Sunway Pyramid, Desaru Coast Resort Developments, KLCC Convention Centre, the Sungai Buloh Hospital and Training College, UiTM Medical Faculty, Pagoh Education Hub and the University Malaysia Pahang.

He is the Immediate Past President of the International Union of Architects (UIA), Past President of Malaysian Institute of Architects, Past Chairman of ARCASIA, Chairman of Malaysian Incorporated Services Bhd, Co-Chairman of Malaysian National Professional Services Export Council (NAPSEC), member of the Board of Architects Malaysia and Chairman of the Malaysia Monitoring Committees of APEC and ASEAN Architect.

Awards include; the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2001, the Construction Industry Player of the Year Award by Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) in 2002, the Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (ISM) Excellence Award 2003 for his Outstanding Contribution to the Property and Construction Industry and the Professional Excellence Award in Engineering, Construction & Property from BIM in 2013. He received the Honorary Doctor of Architecture by the University of Newcastle NSW, Australia in 2005 and the PAM Gold Medal in 2016.

The PAM Student Awards seeks to promote scholarship, innovation, merit and excellence in the youth towards the study of architecture. It also demonstrates the commitment and investment of both PAM and the Benefactor towards architectural design excellence.
